Be a Pilgrim
I was reading the April/May 06 edition of Alive magazine, the one which has Pastor Kong on the cover, and i came across this article called "To Be A Pilgrim".
"Our journey with God can be very exciting and at times, uncertain. It never stops and Jesus wants us to continually move forward with Him. There are many questions we ask along the way. Of course, there is often a cost for moving on with God, but there is a greater cost to not moving at all. Jesus knows all the expeiences we encounter, so we can trust in Him to bring us through. God does invite us to a deeper relationship with him and sometimes that means travelling geographically to unknown places."I thought the article really applied to me, with me being in St Andrews and all. I mean, who has heard of St Andrews, Scotland? Unless you're a golfer, then thats a different story.
Anyway, the article spoke about following Christ with sincerity. Jesus was one who was always on the move. For Christians, his most significant journey is the one to the cross - the Way of Sorrow. In solidarity with all who face suffering and death, Jesus made a choice to travel to the Cross, even if it meant unimaginable struggles with the forces of darkenss and dulling of His awareness of the Father's sustaining presence.
Of course, not everyone is called to be a pilgrim in a literal sense, but everyone IS called to be a pilgrim figuratively. We are encouraged to move in many other ways, from attachment to material possessions to a sense of stewardship, from destructive gossip and putdowns to affirmation of the good we see in others, from relating to a God who is out there to relating to a God who is up close and personal, etc etc. Basically moving out of your comfort zone to a place of greater power.
So, i guess we all have to pray about this...
Because you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land
